Taiwan App Store, separate from China and Hong Kong

The Taiwan store uses TWD and Traditional Chinese charts. It is not mainland China, and it is not Hong Kong. Opening it does not change your Apple ID country.

App Store

Store Switch does not change your Apple ID country. It opens another App Store so you can read ratings, reviews, and charts. Purchases, subscriptions, and the account country still follow your Apple ID.

Taiwan is not mainland China, and not Hong Kong

The Taiwan App Store is the TW storefront. Prices are in New Taiwan dollars. People often call it the Taiwan store, or 台区. Listings and charts are largely Traditional Chinese. The mainland China store is CN, Simplified Chinese and yuan. The Hong Kong store is HK, priced in Hong Kong dollars. Those three are not substitutes, and they are not the same Apple ID country or region.

Opening the Taiwan page does not move the account to Taiwan, mainland China, or Hong Kong, and it does not transfer iCloud.

Browse the Taiwan App Store

  1. Stay signed in to your current Apple ID.
  2. Choose Taiwan in Store Switch, or open the Taiwan store link.
  3. Read Taiwan ratings, reviews, and charts. Purchases still follow the account country you already have.

A Taiwan Apple ID is the account

A Taiwan Apple ID is an account set to Taiwan. You only need that if you intend to buy on the Taiwan store, with a payment method Apple accepts there. That is Apple’s country change. Store Switch does not create the account.

Macao is another storefront

The Macao store is priced in Macanese patacas and is often nicknamed 澳区. Similar Traditional Chinese on the page does not make it the same App Store.

Open the storefront on your iPhone

Store Switch is free on the App Store. Pick a region, open that store, and leave the Apple ID country where it is.
